Vintage CR rear hubs cop a hammering, and worn bearings show up as a sloppy wheel, chain that won't hold tension, and that grinding feel when you spin it off the stand. Pop the wheel off, knock the old races out, and press these in clean with fresh grease. Refit the seals the right way round or you'll pull grit straight back in. Torque the axle to spec, recheck chain alignment, and your old CR tracks straight again. Keep a spare kit on the shelf — these bikes are getting on, and rear bearings are a service item, not a one-off job.
