The clutch basket houses the entire plate stack and transfers power from the crank. Hard acceleration causes the friction plate tabs to hammer against the basket tangs. This creates grooves that stop the clutch from disengaging cleanly. Replacing a notched basket restores smooth lever feel and precise shifting. This unit matches the OEM cross-reference for a precise fit. Most aftermarket baskets require you to transfer your primary gear. This involves drilling out factory rivets and using the supplied fasteners with high-strength thread lock. Check your cushions for play during the install.
