This unit sits at the centre of the assembly, splined to the transmission input shaft. Constant heat and plate friction wear down the towers and splines. If your bike suffers from jerky engagement or chatter, check for stepped wear on these surfaces. This replacement restores smooth plate movement. Ensure the thrust washer is correctly seated behind the unit during installation. Torque the centre nut to factory specifications to prevent binding. It is a vital part of a full top-to-bottom transmission refresh for the 450 range.
