The guide bush rides on the 49mm inner tube and locates it inside the outer stanchion as the fork strokes. The PTFE-style coating takes the load instead of metal-on-metal contact. As that layer wears through, you get front-end stiction off the top of the stroke and lateral play that telegraphs through the bars on braking bumps. Fit a fresh pair every time you split the forks for a seal change. Skip it and the new seals will weep again within a few rides. Showa-spec dimension, so it drops straight into the 49mm KYB-pattern legs on CRF 250/450 and KX 450 chassis.
