Showa call it 'packing' on the parts diagram, which throws plenty of mechanics first time they see it. It's the Japanese OEM term for the small seal washers and quad rings that live inside the fork cartridge, not the main fork seals you can see from outside. This one measures 14 by 22 by 4.8mm and sits deep in the damper assembly. You only touch it when the forks are stripped on the bench for a full rebuild. If your service manual lists 'packing' at that size and your forks are dry, weeping past the cartridge, or feel inconsistent through the stroke, this is the bit you want.
