Showa got fiddly with their internal packing through the late noughties, and the B-spec packing for the 2008 CRF 250 is one of the variants that catches people out. Same fork leg, same brand, same model name on the tank, but the internals shifted year-on-year, and a 2007 or 2009 packing kit will not seat the same. Check your frame number against an '08 build before you order. This sits inside the cartridge, so you're pulling the fork apart properly to fit it: legs off, oil drained, cartridge out on the bench. If you've never split a Showa cartridge before, get the workshop manual open and a clean tray ready. Get the right year, fit it once, and the front end settles back to how it should feel.
