Strip a Showa fork after a hard season on the CRF and you'll see why this bit matters. Rod End A is the threaded foot that ties the damping rod into the base valve. Crossed threads from a rushed rebuild, or fatigue from years of square-edge hits, and the rod walks under compression. Inspect the threads under a light, check the seat face for picking and pull-out marks, and replace if anything looks tired. Torque to spec, dry threads, clean rod. Get it wrong and the fork won't damp properly when you're loading the front into a rut.
