What it is

The 49mm slide bush is the sacrificial bearing surface inside your Showa A-Kit-derived forks — the CRF250R, CRF450R, KX450 and RM-Z450 generation. It rides on the stanchion and carries the side-load every time the front end compresses. As the Teflon liner wears through to copper, you get stiction, harsh small-bump feel and a tell-tale shimmer of bronze in the drained fork oil. Change them as a pair with the seals and dust wipers — never on their own. Same drill for the CRF450X and CRF250RX on a service interval. Cheap insurance against scoring an inner tube.
