These circlips secure the wrist pin within the piston body. They are critical safety components that prevent the pin from migrating and gouging the cylinder wall. Circlips are single-use items and must be replaced every time the wrist pin is removed. Reusing old clips leads to fatigue and potential engine failure. During installation, ensure the gap faces either up or down to avoid resonance-induced displacement at high RPM. Use needle-nose pliers to seat them firmly into the grooves and check for a positive click to confirm they are locked in. This is cheap insurance for your top-end.
