Replace your circlips every time you pull the piston to ensure the wrist pin stays locked in place. These small wire retainers are under constant stress from reciprocating forces. A failed clip will allow the wrist pin to slide out and destroy your cylinder plating instantly. These are designed for a precise fit in the piston grooves. When installing, take care not to over-compress the clip, as this can cause permanent deformation and loss of tension. Always verify they are fully seated before sliding the cylinder back over the piston. These are essential for any top-end rebuild.
