Replace worn friction plates to restore bite and eliminate clutch slip. These plates sit between the steel separators inside the clutch basket. Over time, heat cycles and heavy use wear down the friction material or cause glazing. If your steel plates are still flat and within tolerance, swapping just the frictions is an efficient way to get your bike back on track. Ensure you clean the steel plates thoroughly before installation. Soak these new plates in the same oil you run in your gearbox for several hours to ensure proper lubrication from the first kick.
