What it is

The Moose Offroad BEARING RETAINER REAR HON, motocross part. Stocked by Iron Offroad, the UK MX hard parts specialist.

Threads into the rear hub to lock the bearing against the internal spacer. The drive notches round off easily on removal and the threads seize if they've never been out. Use a proper pin spanner, not a punch. Clean the threads, light smear of anti-seize on reassembly, seat the bearing fully before torquing down. Direct OEM replacement on CR125/250/480/500R rear hubs. A chewed retainer means lateral play at the wheel, so swap it any time the hub comes apart for a bearing job.
