This component threads into the rear hub to secure the bearing against the internal spacer. These often suffer from seized threads or rounded drive notches during removal. Use a dedicated pin spanner to avoid damaging the hub bore. Clean the threads thoroughly and apply a light smear of anti-seize before installation. It is a direct replacement for the OEM part. Ensure the bearing is fully seated before torquing this unit down. Failure to replace a damaged part can lead to lateral play in your rear wheel. This is a critical part of any hub rebuild.
