When the clutch goes heavy and the bite point drifts, the cable is usually the culprit. Inner-wire drag and frayed barrel ends come with grit and heat over a season of riding. This replacement cross-references Yamaha OEM 5CU-26335-00-00 and 5HC-26335-10-00, sized for the YZ 250. Run it along the original path so nothing chafes the header or binds when the bars go to full lock. Seat the barrel ends at the perch and the actuator arm, then set free-play. Done right, the pull stays light and the clutch lasts.
