The cable ties the bar controls to the clutch actuator arm, and it's a consumable: it stretches and frays until the bite point goes gritty and vague. A new one returns proper mechanical precision to the clutch. Run the housing well clear of the steering stops and radiator so nothing fouls on full lock. Seat both barrel ends square in the lever and the engine bracket. If the lever feels heavy or notchy, this is the first thing to change.
