Drop these in when the stock springs have sacked out or your kid's grown enough to ride down the existing rate. 1.8 N/mm is the soft end of the 50 range, so it suits the lighter riders and lets the fork actually use its travel on hardpack and grass. Set sag first, then worry about feel. While the forks are apart, change the oil, check the bushings for bronze showing through, and clean the seals. If your rider is pushing past 25kg in kit, step up a rate before the front end starts diving under brakes.
