Drop these in when the standard 1.8s have gone soft or your kid's outgrown them. The 2.0 rate sits between stock and the firmer 2.2, so it's the right step up for a quicker rider or one carrying a bit more weight. You'll notice the front holding up better on braking bumps and stops the forks diving through the stroke on jump faces. Fit them as a pair, never one side. While the legs are apart, swap the fork oil, check the bushings and seals, and set your sag once it's back together. Get the rate wrong and you'll either pack down or skip off the front.
