Guide bushings live inside the outer fork tube and ride against the stanchion as the fork strokes. The Teflon layer is what keeps stiction down. Once it wears through to the copper backing, you get harsh initial movement and slop at the top of the stroke that loads the seal lip unevenly. 36mm sizing covers Showa and KYB cartridges on the KX 80/85, YZ 65, YZ 85 and a handful of older Suzukis. Fit them as a set with new seals and dust wipers during any seal change. Cheap insurance on a bike that lives on small-wheel suspension travel.
