These springs provide the clamping force needed to keep your clutch plates engaged. They sit inside the clutch basket against the pressure plate. Heat and constant cycling cause old springs to fatigue and shorten over time. This leads to clutch slip under heavy load. Replacing them restores the firm feel at your lever. Always tighten the bolts in a criss-cross pattern to avoid cracking the pressure plate. Check your friction plates for glazing while the cover is off.
