Steel plates are the backbone of your clutch pack. They sit between the friction plates to transfer drive from the basket to the hub. Heat is the main enemy during hard use. Overheating leads to warping or blueing, which causes clutch drag and inconsistent lever feel. Replace these whenever you install new frictions to ensure a flat mating surface. Check your stack height against OEM specifications before closing the case. These are model-specific to maintain the correct tolerances for your transmission.
