The aluminium loop that carries a Probend wrap-around guard. It bolts to the inner clamp and the bar end, forming the shield that stands between your knuckles and the next rock or tree. The bump on the outer edge buys clearance for your hands when you shift your grip mid-corner. A big crash bends the bar past saving, and a bent guard wrecks lever feel, so replace it rather than fight it straight. Trim your grips back for a clean seat at the bar end.
