What it is
The Moose Offroad Skid Plate - Kawasaki, motocross part. Stocked by Iron Offroad, the UK MX hard parts specialist.
Bolts to the frame rails and takes the hits your cases can't. Rocks, ruts and stray logs strike the plate, not the bottom of the engine. The skid is shaped to clear the exhaust and water pump while still covering the vulnerable lower run. Cut to suit the KX 250 and 450 platform plus the YZ 250 two-stroke, so the fit is bike-specific rather than a one-size compromise. Re-check the mounting bolts after the first few rides; frame vibration backs them off. Retire it once the tabs start to crack or the face is gouged through.
