Years of trail dust and grit work past the seals and the inner wire starts to drag. The result is a heavy twist and a lazy return. Fit fresh, route clear of the header, then dial free-play at the grip and turn the bars full lock both ways to confirm nothing tugs. Crisp return is what you want before the engine catches.
