The Xtreme-spec plate carries further back than a standard skid, wrapping the shock linkage as well as the engine cases. On the YZ 250 F and Fantic XXF 250 that lower shock mount sits low and takes direct hits in technical going. Thick HDPE absorbs the impact and gives a slick face to slide over rocks and logs rather than hang up on them. Built for hard enduro, where the linkage is the part most riders forget until it's bent. Fit is model-specific. Check the linkage section often; it wears faster than the rest.
