What it is

The POLISPORT IGNITION COVER PROTECTOR ORANGE, motocross part. Stocked by Iron Offroad, the UK MX hard parts specialist.

Sits over the ignition cover on the left case, taking the hit from boots, ruts and flung rock before it reaches the stator housing. Factory casings run thin and crack under a square impact, which is bad news for the internals behind them. Bolts to the existing cover holes for a flush fit on the KTM EXC 450 and EXC 500. Clean the mating face first so grit doesn't get trapped against the OEM finish. A sacrificial layer is far cheaper than a stator. Worth fitting before the first proper trail day, not after it.
