Steel plates sit between the friction discs to provide a stable mating surface. Heat is the main enemy here. If your clutch has been slipping, these plates often warp or turn blue. Warped steels cause the clutch to drag, making it hard to find neutral or causing the bike to creep while stationary. These plates match OEM thickness and tolerances for consistent stack height. Check your clutch springs for fatigue while the assembly is apart. Replace them if they are below the service limit to maintain proper clamping force.
