The 971 covers the 22mm standard-diameter fitment for bikes on older clamps and trials cockpits. It keeps the crossbrace for stiffness through the middle and the shot-peened surface that resists fatigue cracking. This is a higher, more swept bend than the 809 or 966, suiting riders who stand a lot and want the bar closer. Check your clamp diameter first; these will not fit 28.6mm oversized mounts. A bar that bent in a crash has lost its strength and should be swapped. Contact cleaner makes grip fitting quick and clean.
