What it is

The SHOWA SERVICE KIT FF 48MM, suspension. Stocked by Iron Offroad, the UK MX hard parts specialist.

Full 48mm front fork overhaul kit for Showa twin-chamber forks fitted to the KX 250 F, RM-Z 250 and RM-Z 450. Includes oil seals, dust seals and the bushings that ride the stanchion through its stroke. Replace as a set. New seals on tired bushings is false economy — the worn bronze coating just chews the lip out again within a few rides. Fit at the scheduled service interval, or sooner if you spot weeping at the dust seal or stiction off the top. Check the stanchions under a workshop light for nicks before reassembly. Bleed the air chamber to spec after refilling.
