What it is

The VERTEX ENGINE BOTTOM END HONDA REBUILD KIT, motocross part. Stocked by Iron Offroad, the UK MX hard parts specialist.

Vertex's bottom-end kit for the Honda CR85R and CR85RB: complete crankshaft, main bearings, crank seals and the full gasket set for splitting and resealing the cases. Small-bore two-strokes rev hard, and the CR85's big-end takes the punishment first. Rock the rod side to side at TDC and any detectable play means the crank is done. Rather than pressing a new rod into a tired assembly, this drops in a fresh crank on new mains in one job. Clean the cases, check the transfer ports for debris from the old bearings, and torque the cases evenly on assembly.
