What it is

The VERTEX ENGINE BOTTOM END KAWASAKI REBUILD KIT, motocross part. Stocked by Iron Offroad, the UK MX hard parts specialist.

Everything the KX85's lower end needs after a hard season: complete Vertex crank assembly, main bearings, seals and the gasket set to split and close the cases. Covers both the 17/14 small-wheel and 19/16 big-wheel KX85. The 85 class gets ridden at full throttle most of the lap, and big-end life reflects that, so a bottom-end rebuild alongside every second or third top-end is normal service on a raced bike. Skipping it risks a let-go that takes the fresh piston and barrel with it. Check crank runout before final assembly and use new seals every time.
