What it is

The ATHENA WHEEL BEARING 6004/2RS1-KOYO, hubs. Stocked by Iron Offroad, the UK MX hard parts specialist.

A 6004-2RS sealed deep-groove ball bearing from Koyo — 20mm bore, 42mm OD, 12mm wide, rubber-sealed both sides. Carries the axle inside the hub and takes the side-load through corners and the vertical hit on landings. Dirt and water kill these. Once grease contaminates, the balls cut the races and you feel play at the rim. Press it in square on the outer race with a driver matching the 42mm OD. Never strike the inner race. Seat it firm against the internal spacer or the opposite-side bearing will load wrong and fail early.
