These fibreglass petals sit within the intake block to control the fuel-air mixture entering the crankcase. Over time, the edges fray or the material loses its tension, leading to a boggy bottom-end and poor starting. Inspect these during every top-end service for any signs of chipping or gaps. Fresh petals restore crisp throttle response and improve scavenging efficiency. They are a simple but critical component for maintaining 2-stroke performance. Ensure the seating surface is clean before bolting the new petals into place.
