This exhaust tape is used to manage heat soak and protect vulnerable components. It wraps around the header pipe to insulate the exhaust gas and reduce radiant heat. This is particularly useful for protecting your boots, trousers, or nearby plastic bodywork from melting. It also helps maintain exhaust gas velocity for better scavenging. Secure the ends with stainless steel ties to ensure it stays in place during high-vibration riding. This is a common addition for enduro bikes where slow-speed technical sections can lead to extreme header temperatures. Replace the wrap if it becomes frayed or oil-soaked.
