Packing kills noise and holds back pressure. When the note turns sharp or the can runs hot, the wool's gone. Blown packing costs you bottom-end and cooks the outer sleeve. Pick mat or loose fill to suit your silencer. Repack before every dB test or you'll get turned away at scrutineering. Strip the end cap, pull the old wool, wrap fresh mat tight round the core, slide it back. Filter by volume to match your can.
