What it is

The Moose Offroad FRONT FORK SPRING 4.4N, motocross part. Stocked by Iron Offroad, the UK MX hard parts specialist.

Fork springs control how the front end sits and where it rides in the stroke. 4.4 N/mm is the soft end of adult kit. Run these if you're a lighter rider getting pushed too high on stock rates, riding the top of the travel, or diving through the mid-stroke under heavy braking. Set sag, check fork oil height while you're in there, and have a look at the bushings before you button it back up. Match the rate to your kit-on weight. Too soft and you'll pack down and bottom; too stiff and the front deflects off braking bumps and skates wide.
