What it is

The Moose Offroad FRONT FORK SPRING 4.8N, motocross part. Stocked by Iron Offroad, the UK MX hard parts specialist.

Stock 4.6s give up too much travel in the first half of the stroke once you're over 80kg or pushing a harder pace. The 4.8 holds the front end higher on entry, keeps the bike balanced under brakes, and stops the forks diving into the mid-stroke on braking bumps. Fit them as a pair. While the legs are apart, flush the old oil, set your height to spec, and check the bushings and slide bushes for copper showing through. Wind the compression clickers out a couple before you ride — the firmer rate does the work the clickers were faking.
