This steel part fits the engine output shaft to drive the chain. It is a vital wear component that should be inspected for hooked teeth or side-wear at every service interval. Mud and grit will accelerate the degradation of the tooth profile. If you are fitting a larger tooth count for high-speed tracks, ensure your chain length is sufficient for the adjustment. Check the condition of the countershaft seal while the part is removed. Always use the correct torque setting on the retaining nut and fit a new lock washer or circlip.
