These parts sit between the inner and outer tubes to contain damping oil and exclude external contaminants. Common failure points include grit ingress and pressure washer damage, which lead to weeping oil and reduced damping performance. Replace these during your regular service interval or at the first sign of a leak. Ensure the fork tubes are perfectly clean and free of pitting before installation. Use a dedicated 38mm seal driver to seat the components without damaging the delicate sealing lips.
