This countershaft sprocket sits on the engine output shaft to drive your chain. It is a high-wear component that demands regular inspection. Replace it when you notice hooked teeth or a thinned profile to prevent chain damage. Grit and mud accelerate wear here faster than at the rear due to the tighter radius. Adjusting the tooth count is the fastest way to gear your bike for technical wood sections or high-speed desert runs. Clean the splines thoroughly before installation. Always fit a fresh lock washer or circlip and torque the nut to OEM specifications.
