The side panels seal the airbox and cover the subframe on the KX 250 F and KX 450 F. Their job is keeping mud and water out of the intake, so a cracked or warped panel can let an air leak straight into the filter. They also catch boot wear at the rear of the bike. This is a direct OEM swap that lines up with the seat and rear fender, and the flat face takes a graphics kit cleanly. Fit a fresh set once the plastic goes brittle or the mounting points start to split.
