This needle roller sits in the small end of the connecting rod to support the gudgeon pin. It is a high-wear item, especially in high-revving two-stroke engines. Replace this part every time you install a new piston. A failure here can drop needles into the crankcases, causing catastrophic damage to the crank and cylinder. These are precision-ground to handle extreme thermal loads. Check the small-end bore of your rod for wear or discolouration before fitting. Always coat the needles in fresh oil during the rebuild.
