This bi-metal rear sprocket uses a steel outer ring for superior wear resistance and an aluminium inner to keep unsprung weight low. It mounts to the rear hub and is designed to survive the most abrasive UK riding conditions. The 48-tooth sizing is preferred for high-speed tracks where top-end performance is the priority. Replace this part if you see visible hooking on the teeth or when fitting a new chain. Use a torque wrench on the sprocket bolts and apply thread lock to ensure the assembly remains secure during hard acceleration.
