On the CRF250R and CRF250X, the oil pump sits low on the right-hand engine case, directly in the firing line of rocks kicked up by the front wheel. One sharp strike there cracks the housing, dumps the oil, and ends your ride with a seized top-end. This guard bolts to the existing case bolts and shields the pump body without trapping heat. The plastic flexes on impact rather than punching the load straight into the cases. Cheap insurance against a full bottom-end rebuild. Check it for stress marks after rocky enduro loops and swap it out if you see splits.
