This guard sits between the rear tyre and the shock absorber. Its primary job is to keep mud and stones away from the shock shaft and linkage bearings. Over time, the constant spray from the rear tyre thins the plastic or tears the mounting tabs. Replacing a worn protection plate is a cheap way to protect expensive suspension components from premature wear. It installs easily behind the airbox using standard mounting points. This is a vital part for any bike tackling muddy UK tracks or cross-country loops.
