Axles hold the wheel in line and carry the hub bearings. You fit a new spindle after a heavy landing, or when the threads pick up during a tyre change. Check it on a flat plate for runout, and look at the bearing seats for scoring. A bent axle eats bearings and wanders under brakes. Match the diameter and length to your hub and fork lugs.
