What it is

The BARNETT CLUTCH STEEL DRIVE PLATE EACH, clutch. Stocked by Iron Offroad, the UK MX hard parts specialist.

Steel drive plates sit between the friction plates and are responsible for heat dissipation and maintaining the stack height. They do not wear down like friction material but often warp or blue from excessive heat. A warped steel plate causes the bike to creep in gear and makes finding neutral difficult. This individual plate allows for targeted replacement of damaged components. Check each plate in your stack for flatness using a feeler gauge and a flat surface. Always clean the preservative oil off new steel plates before installation to ensure immediate bite.
