These steel drive plates sit between your friction plates to transfer power from the crank to the gearbox. Overheating causes these plates to warp or develop blue spots, leading to clutch drag and inconsistent lever feel. Check your plates on a glass surface for flatness during every top-end rebuild or oil change. Replacing worn steels restores the correct stack height and prevents clutch slip under load. These are sold as individual units. Always soak your friction plates in fresh oil before assembly. Match these with new springs to ensure even pressure across the clutch pack.
