These seals sit at the junction between the expansion chamber and the cylinder exhaust port. They prevent pressure loss and stop oil from leaking down the front of the engine. Heat cycles and vibration eventually flatten the rubber, leading to a loose fit and exhaust leaks. Replace these every time you remove the pipe for a top-end rebuild or cleaning. Ensure the grooves in the flange are clear of carbon before fitting. These are vital for maintaining correct back pressure and keeping your bike clean during hard enduro or track sessions.
