These seals sit at the base of your outer fork tubes to retain damping oil and maintain internal pressure. Grit and dried mud eventually score the sealing lip, leading to oil weeping down the stanchion. Replace them during every major fork service or as soon as you spot a leak to prevent oil contaminating your brake pads. Use a dedicated seal driver for the install to avoid damaging the new rubber.
