This 2.50-inch rim lock prevents the tyre from spinning on the rim under heavy acceleration or braking. It is essential when running low pressures for enduro or trials. The rubber coating protects your inner tube from pinching and chafing against the aluminium body. It sits inside the wheel rim, opposite the valve stem to maintain balance. Ensure the nut is torqued correctly to grip the bead without damaging the rim. Replace these if the rubber starts to perish or the bolt threads strip.
